Andrew if you need a fellow Skype user and a brother in Christ, I have
some time on my hands before I start this new job if you just need a
brother to talk to. Feel free to add me on Skype. The username is
redneck4christ. I can really relate to you because I have experience
with churches that try to operate as megachurches regardless of how
many members they have. It sems as if your church has been bitten by
the Christian culture bug. The buzz word in contemporary Christian
circles is "reaching" people. Just get them in for the service and
entertain them with Christian theatrics, then let them go home with
something to think about, maybe an "encouraging word" and then let
them go home without any real fellowship. Kepp the programs coming.
Give the pastors big-sounding titles and let them vie for leasership
positions in the evolving church hierarchy. Never mind whether the
individual members are getting the message or not. Just send the
message out and send the members home. Never mind the true Acts 2
church with its emphasis on fellowship. Forget fellowship; just
"reach" people. With what, you might ask? Well if the answer is the
gospel, then the church is doing a bang-up job. You should find a good
fundamentalist church where the Word is preached and they have good
fellowship. Whether it's baptist, pentecostal, or any other protestant
denomination, you need a place where the Spirit is moving and you can
get support. If that's not possible in your area, there are Skype
church services that meet online which you might find interesting.
Call me and let me know more about your situation if you want.
