[Faith-talk] R.C. Sproul's magazine and site

Jeannette,
Sounds good. Let me know if you have any book recommendations from your son.
He's in the military; that is pretty brave of him.
I think knowing about the Reformation and how Luther protested the Catholic
church is important since that is how other Protestant branches of
Christianity started.

For RC Sproul, I think the full magazine is only in print. I clicked
ministries and it takes you to a few articles once you click on this months
magazine. Its not the full version.
I might call them for suggestions of articles. I clicked on
articles and there are some, but they did not explain what reform theology
is, at least the titles and first few sentences did not.

So I'm not sure where to start.

Ashley

i'll have to talk to my son about good books to read about the reformation
era, i taught him that in the 6th grade and we read a lot of stuff so i'll
ask him when he gets back from basic training in the middle of december, it
was a wonderful study we did and a lot of fun to read about church history i
had
as to articles on sprouls site, i'd read just about anything, i haven't
looked at it in a while but there is all kinds of information on there and
if you contac the ministry they may be able to tell you what to go look at
in the archives to read about reformation theology.never heard about before.

Jeanette,
Any articles you suggest on Sproul's site?
I still got a cassette player so reading those authors won't be a problem.
I've heard that program; just did not know it was John Mcarthur's program.
Any reccomendations for studying the reformation era? That was the time
Martin Luther left the Catholic church and
started the Protestant denomination.

i have not found another source for Sprouls books, but nls has some of John
Mc Arthurs books on tape not on digital.
john mcarthur is a minister in california, more a reform teacher than david
jeremiah and charles stanley but not quite as reformed as r.c. sproul, john
mcarthur is on the radio, his program and website is Grace to You. he is
very good also and very scripturally based.
i refuse to follow any one denominatio orany one teacher completely, i have
raised three teen agers and homeschooled them for 7 years and hav taught a
lot f theology and done a lot in investigation along with studying church
history with my oldest when we studied the reformation era and learned so
much more than i ever did in school or at church, r.c. sproul does a lot of
teaching on church history, as a matter of act i saw yesterday he has some
articles that are accessable on his website about reformation info.

Jeanette,
So who is John Mcarthur?
Interesting we like the same pastors. I don't hear Chuck Swindoll on radio
though because his program is played early morning with no later broadcast.
However, I did hear him on the internet in his broadcast archives; he sounds
good.

You're kind of like me then in that you take several teachings and figure
out where you belong from there.
The issue with religion and politics is most people don't think through
something; its easier to just follow a preacher or political leader
without going to the source they got their info from or doing some analysis.
I get my news from multiple sources so I can get a more balanced view; same
with Christianity.

Now, you say NLS does not produce any of RC Sproul's
books. Too bad. Have you found another source for his books in audio?
Thanks.
Ashley

i am a Christian, i belong to know denomination, the church i go to is
nondenominational, i lhave always liked r.c. sproul very much, didn't say i
agree with everything he teaches but i really do respect him as well as
david jeremiah and charles stanley, the nls library has some of charles
stanley's books on tape, one on digital, none of charles swindalls stuff on
digital but a bunch of it on tape, none of r.c. sprouls stuff at all, they
do also have some of john mcarthurs as well, i grew up methodist, was
baptised in the baptised church, attended presbyterian with my first husband
and now go to the church i talked about earlier, our pastor has all of his
sermons available for download as mp3s on the website for free and seromons
by other visiting pastors if you are interested.

Jeanette,
That is right. RC Sproul is a well respected teacher. He has helped author a
study bible and I think he is a consultant to revising the bible as well.
What is your faith? I'm not sure what church follows Calvinist teaching.

you are so missinformed Joshua, my opinion of course, these are respectable
teachers whether you agree with their interpretation or not, none of us have
slammed any of those you hold in high standing whether we agree with them or
not, we ahve not called them false teachers as some have, r.c. sproul has
some good teachings and there are many many folks who agree with his
Calvinist teachings, a little more mainstream than some you know, he has
some very accessable teaching tools on his website and many of his things
are available for a minimal donation from time to time, i own many things he
has done and enjoy his radio teachings quite a bit. jeanette p.s. that
having been said, i do not agree with all his teachings

okay; I didn't see much wrong with him, but I do disagree with some
fundamentalist pastors on tv which I won't go into.
I'm curious to know if anyone used his sources online, if they're
accessible.

RC Sprowel is a Calvinist!
He believes in predestination, Unconditional Eternal Security, and he
also has his prophesy, (Bible prophesy,) way off.
He, and Hank Hannigraf are false teachers.
Also, my oppinion, (I must always say.)
Blessings, Joshua
