First, kudos to you, John!  You did a great job of summarizing 
orthox Church teaching on why certain books have been accepted 
and some not.  Timothy, these same arguments were around in the 
second century and so on.  This is all really nothing new.  You 
should read some of the Early Aurch Fathers, like Athanasius, and 
others.  You might find some books through Learning Ally, 
Bookshare or perhaps the Xavier Society for the Blind.  Or find a 
good, church history book.  It is good for us to know what the 
early saints said about the Gnostics and other people who tried 
to change the shape of Christianity.  Also, pray, pray, pray.
