Alright… And granted, I'm coming at this from the outside, but that interpretation is a little hard for me to understand. I sincerely don't mean to offend, but in my mind ignoring things like civil rights and social justice is more like… Not living in the world at all, as opposed to being in the world but not of the world. I read "in the world but not of the world"as an entreaty to get involved in the world, be concerned with the plight of our fellow human beings but don't get so caught up with material temporary things that you lose sight of God or the people around you. I'm agnostic now, but that's how I interpreted it when I was a faithful religious person and, I'm sure I'm biased, but I prefer that point of view to the idea of shunning beneficial social activism in an effort to avoid worldliness. Of course, I'm sure there's another side to this that I don't quite understand.
Best,Kirt
