[Faith-talk] being healed from blindness

Terri,
I have a question about choir singing.
Do you sing the lyrics based on memory? If not, where do you get braille
music?
When in school choir and church kids choir, I listened and picked up the
songs and notes. sometimes my teacher of the vision impaired would braille
the lyrics.
I would stand and sing with everyone; we were not allowed to read music at
concerts, so not having braille music was no big deal. I never learned
braille music. but for those avid singers, you might wish to read music as
everyone else does.
So, do you use music? Does someone have to tap you or otherwise communicate
when the song ends since you cannot see the cut off command? also do you go
sighted guide onto the stage? I did that.
What if you move around while singing? I would guess our best option is to
hold another singer's hand.
Its very important to move with the crowd and canes are not an option.
I notice that in large choirs they move up the isle while singing; happens
in church on occasion too.
I might wish to perform someday in a musical or play and just was wondering
about these things.

I am a classical musician as well. I have my Master's Degree in Voice
Performance. I am a coloratura soprano and I do solos, sing in
two or three choirs, depending on the time of year, and teach some voice
lessons from my home. I would love to hear your Kyrie and
Agnus Dei.
Sincerely,
Terri Wilcox
