Hello and good evening to those of you in the Americas, and good morning and afternoon to the rest of you in other parts of the world. I hope that, by God's matchless grace and His providential care, that you all are having a good Tuesday or a good Monday evening.

Today in the U.S., as I stated in a previous message, is known as Presidents Day, a day in which we pay honor to all those who have served the highest office in our land. Our first president, George Washington, was, despite what some people would say in this modern day and age, a praying Christian. Today's article, though quite short, reflects this. Its author is not given, but it appeared in a back issue of "Psychology For Living" and is simply entitled "George Washington's Prayer," rendered as follows:

Some have claimed that George Washington was a deist, one who believes in a Creator-God but accepts neither the deity of Jesus Christ nor the authority of Holy Scripture. We now know for certain that this is not true.

The following prayers, written in George Washington's own handwriting in a diary-like manuscript book, give us a glimpse into his spiritual orientation:

"Direct my thoughts, words and work. Wash away my sins in the immaculate Blood of the Lamb, and urge my heart by the Holy Spirit. Daily frame me more and more into the likeness of Thy Son Jesus Christ. Thou gavest Thy Son to die for me; and hast given me assurance of salvation, upon my repentance and sincerely endeavoring to conform my life to His holy precepts and example."

Words such as these could not have been penned by any other than an authentic Bible-believing Christian.

See, I told you it was short. For those of you who know Braille and still borrow Braille books from the Braille Circulating Library in Richmond VA, they have a book entitled "George Washington, Christian." I forget its author, but if you can somehow manage to borrow this book, it would be a worthy read.

And now may the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob just keep us safe, individually and collectively, throughout this night or day and especially in these last days in hwich we live. Your Christian friend and brother, Paul
