Dear Rhonda and all,
i was so busy last weeks. i even don't remember if i sent a thank you
message for your welcome so I want to do it now.
many years ago I met prophessor Reinolds and his wife here in Krakow. They
were from California. They visited our school for blind children and
presented some useful equipments. My little pupils welcomed them in English
and they were so touched, so moved and then he was sending Braille books and
magazines to me from people who read them and no longer wanted. First of all
he sent me a little booklet with Braille contractions and abbreviations,
otherwise I wouldn't be able to use all these books and magazines he sent.
prophessor Reinolds was the President of Oversea Foundation for the blind.
After few years we somehow learnt he died. He will be always in my heart.
Thank to what he did, my husband, I and many of our friends could improve
our English. we had world book encyclopedia in 144 volumes if i remember
well and different magazines like Reader's digest, Braille mirror, our
special, Lady's home.
Then one day stephanie Pieck, a blind pianist visited our city and she gave
some concerts here and when she came back home to Connecticut she sent me
old volumes of Matilda ziegler Magazine and some other magazines and I could
reach through pen pals blind friends from abroad.
Thank you again for welcoming me.
warmly, Halinka.
