Hello again to most of you on this mid day of the week, also commonly known as Hump Day. I hope that your day is going well, by God's matchless grace and His providential care.
Several years ago, eight to be exact, the Lord gave me the words to a poem suitable to be recited at this time of the year, and He also directed me to an old English folk song. Now I can't sing it in an attachment here, mainly because I don't know how to create such a one, and secondly some people can't open attached files. However I can give you the words, and if any of you are members of audio chat groups to which I belong, maybe by common consent we can go into one of them on a particular site and I can sing it for you. Otherwise the only way this can be done if via the old-fashioned telephone.
Anyway the name of this poem is entitled "April Song," rendered as follows:
We give Thee thanks, O Lord, for these:
Soft April rains, green budding trees,
The hush of dawn, gold daffodils,
The songs of birds from sun-kissed hills,
For star-strewn skies whose glory glows
To light the sleeping world below,
For smiling brooks that seek the sea:
We humbly give our thanks to Thee.
We give Thee thanks, O Lord, for these:
The things of life that daily please,
For comfort that is ever there
In hearts that seek Your peace through prayer,
For gardens rich with flowers gay,
For shouts of children lost in play,
The hush of dawn, lakes blue and still,
For daisies strewn on wind-kissed hills.
We give Thee thanks, O Lord, for care
Thy love has lavished everywhere,
For faith and hope, for sacred bliss,
That lies in every toddler's kiss,
For bounties shared, for all Thy grace
That blesses every dwelling place,
For dreams unshackled, spirits free:
We give Thee thanks, O Lord, for these.
And there you have it for today. I pray that the Lord has used my words above to be a blessing. And no, I don't claim to be a Chris Tomlin or even a Rich Mullins, but I just do what He leads me to do.
And now may the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob just keep us safe, individually and collectively, in these last days in which we live. Lord willing, tomorrow there will be another Daily Thought message for you. Your Christian friend and brother, Paul
