you shouldn't asusume people would be there 45 minutes early.
Not all churches are the same. I suggest calling next time to see what their 
schedules are like.
I hope you find a good church. Which type are you going to?

I'm not officially anything now, but grew up methodist.

Hi Julie, I got there about 45 minutes early, but in our old
church there were always people around at least an hour before
service, the worship team would be practicing, and there were
usually some Sunday school folks getting things ready for the
kids.  So I don't know what the deal was last Sunday.
