Hello and greetings to all my fellow saints of the Most High God. I hope that you are doing well on this last day of February. In a few hours from now, this month for all of us worldwide will be over and we will commence with the month of March.
I think a good way to wrap up this month's Daily Thought messages is to lay on you some short poems. I don't know about you, but sometimes a good poem or two after a stressful time can sometimes "hit the spot," so to speak. Let's begin with a poem by Vi B. Chevalier entitled "Deeds of Love," rendered as follows:
Think not a smile can warm a heart
And leave an afterglow?
A word of kindness fosters hope
Where dreams no longer grow?
Think not a helping hand inspires
A soul to try anew?
Or words of love rekindle joy
Where love no longer grew?
Think so! Think so! Be still and know
Life's purpose, and God's plan.
To do for others, day by day,
To be the best we can.
For selfless deeds done from the heart
Are blessed by God above.
And those who care and truly share
Shall know eternal love.
Jill Lemming is the author of this next poem. I personally know her as a fellow member of the Baltimore chapter of the Christian Poetry Society. She now graces our computer screens, Braille displays and screen readers with her contribution entitled "Heartgifts," rendered as follows:
We can't rely on earthly things
To bring us happiness;
Treasures come from deep within,
God's "heartgifts" are the best.
Like forgiveness when we need it most
And when it's least deserved;
A simple smile when we are sad,
A hug, for what it's worth.
All these things are Heaven-sent
And priceless through and through;
Heartgifts never fade away;
They grow inside of you.
Let's silently in our own individual ways thank God for inspiring Vi and Jill for their poetic talents which I shared with you this day.
And now may the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob just keep us safe, individually and collectively, in these last days in which we live. Lord willing, tomorrow there will be another Daily Thought message for you. Your Christian friend and brother, Paul
