Hello folks. In place of the Daily Thought article I promised you several days ago, the Lord has led me to post the words to a Christian patriotic prayer-song which I learned about when a member of a former church, Christ and Country Church here in Baltimore. It is a little-known song, so some details are in order.

It was written in 1934 by Phil Kerr and had its first public hearing on July 4, 1936 in Sioux City Iowa. This song was the theme of our church's radio program, Christ and Country Radio, presided over by the pastor, the late R.T. Woodworth. Even though the words and tune are little known in this day and age, it is my opinion that the sentiments expressed are sorely needed in this day and age. Lord willing, I hope to disseminate both words and tune in several live Christian chatrooms over the next several days and, if Pastor Jason feels they would be appropriate, I would love to sing them tomorrow at church, even though they aren't on the official song list.

And now below you will read the words. Even though they are primarily directed toward those of us living in America, I'm sure that if the governments in other lands are as corrupt as ours, these words can be used by the rest of you. Here are the three verses, and may God bless you as you read them.

God, save our nation,
The stars and stripes defend,
For our salvation
On Thee we must depend.
Foes around assail us;
Thou will never fail us:
O, save our nation,
In God we trust.

God, be our refuge,
In Thee our hopes are laid.
Trusting Thy promise,
We'll march on undismayed;
Old Glory waving o'er us,
Knowing Thou art for us:
O, save our nation,
In God we trust.

God, bless our leaders;
They need Thy guiding hand.
God, bless our people
In all this glorious land.
How we need Thy blessing,
Now we come confessing:
O, save our nation,
In God we trust.

And there you have the words to this stirring Christian patriotic hymn, written so long ago.

Never fear, folks: Monday the daily thought articles will resume. Don't forget that tomorrow is the weekly Bible trivia game.

And now may the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob just keep us safe, individually and collectively more than ever, in these last days in which we live. Your Christian friend and brother, Paul
