Hi there,
I'm glad you shared this because many people practice their faith via music
here.
I can see why it can be argued off topic but I do think it has relevance to
blind musicians who are faithful.
Many people have never heard of CABI; I was one such person until a few
years ago when a friend in our nfb chapter told me about that online
platform for classes.
Additionally, many of us struggle to find accessible recording and editing
software. I looked for a free recording platform as I was considering
uploading audio files for personal use such as recording kids' stories for
my little cousins. I was not aware of accessible audio editing software
and believed I could not edit them. Sony, for instance, does not have
accessible software. I found only very expensive sollutions and even then
you had to purchase scripts; cakewalk is one example of this.

I saw this on electronics talk, but don't mind seeing it twice because my
delete key is freely used.

So, how refreshing to learn that there is in fact software out there at low
cost we can use and not only that, but there are courses with our needs in
mind to aid in our learning.
I'm sure many of us can volunteer our time for recording and/or editing
material for our respective worship communities.
It’s a good skill to have.

Feel free to write me off list. I want to know if your tutoring is a charge.
Which version of ProTools do you have?
Also, how much is goldwave? This is one thing I considered getting. I know
audacity is free but is semi accessible.

I'm also wondering if you record Christian music in your studio.

I'm reachable at bookwormahb at earthlink.net.
Thanks.

Ashley

I know that some on this list are musicians so I thought I would pass this
on so that they would have an opportunity to grow in an area that many use
to express their faith through music. Also, I myself have a recording studio
and use the recording program Protools on the Mac to run a small project
studio and have tutored people in the past who need help, but below is a
class for entry level folks and the programs that are being used both have
light versions that have a lot of access for free.

>From CAVI, Cisco Academy for the Vision Impaired:

Audio Editing Fundamentals, Single Track or Multi-track (starts August 2014)

These courses teach audio editing to those of all skill levels. The
single trakc course focuses on using software like Goldwave to
record, edit, and enhance audio. The multi-track course teaches all
aspects of audio production and mixing using Reaper. Both classes
teach principles of microphone usage, choosing formats, and provide a
survey of audio equipment for all budget levels. Our original Audio
Fundamentals course has had a refresh this term and is now split into
two tracks. Students may choose whether they'd like to learn single
track editing with Goldwave, or multitrack editing with Reaper.

If you are still unsure of much of the terminology audio pros use and
want an affordable and accessible way to learn the basics of audio
editing in a structured and interactive environment, this is the
course for you!

For more information on this course, please go to:

For the enrolment deadline and to see all 2014 semester 2 course
offerings, go to:

NOTE: I am not officially affiliated with CAVI. I did recently take
and pass their IT Esentials course, which enabled me to pass the
CompTIA A+ exams with flying colors.

Chris
