When I was a little girl, my family lived next door to a family
with six daughters. One of those daughters married a young man
who pastored a small Methodist church near the School for the
Blind in Oregon. I would visit them on weekends. This gave me a
wonderful place to visit away from school, a feeling of being
with family, and wonderful people who loved me. One morning I
got to ring the bell to call people to morning worship. It was
the kind that was in a steeple tower, and you pulled on the rope
to get the bell to ring. I remember Greg's hands helping me to
ring the bell, and his laughter as the rope almost lifted me from
the ground. The people who attended this small church were
country folks, and they didn't mind singing "Jesus Loves Me"
because a little girl requested it. I was only five, so I don't
remember the sermons well, but I do remember the sound of those
wonderful hymns being sung. Although I like contemporary
Christian music, I have a love for those sweet hymns sung long
ago in that little church in Oregon. Blessings, Debby P.S.
Sorry if this was too long.
