Indeed Linda, that is what George was saying.  He was not saying that bible scriptures should not be quoted on the list, but that they should not be used as an attack or a bludgeon against others when a disagreement arises.

Linda, I believe you misunderstand what Jorge is saying. He is simply saying we shouldn’t argue with others and quote Scripture in people’s faces when you don’t agree with what is being said, not to never ever quote the Bigle. There are people who will say, “The Bible says….” regarding some issue you may not agree with. Say you are trying to disagree with someone who doesn’t hold Christian beliefs, and you quote Scripture as if that will change their minds. I agree with Jorge in that we shouldn’t use it to harm others or be arrogant, especially when talking to non-Christians. It won’t help them any by quoting Scripture.

St. Francis of Assisi said to preach the Gospel, but when necessary use words. Actions are so much more important than self-righteous and holier than thou attitude that quoting Scripture can make people feel. Have a nice night.
