When I was in the nursing home in Barstow last year, they

group home would be better for me when I was to be discharged
from the
nursing home I flat out said no way. I have heard over the
years what
they do to disabled people. They have no idea what blind people
are
capable of doing. Perhaps for people that need 24-7 care, they
might be
okay, but for someone that can still be indipendent, they are no
good.
Even nursing homes really have no idea about the capabilities of
blind
people. I know this because I was in two of them last year.
Yes, I needed
to be there because of health reasons, but when I was well
enough to walk
without assistance, they both were not willing to let me do
this. They
said that I would run into the elderly people who were in
wheelchairs and
couldn't get out of the way. Even afer I told them that I could
hear the
wheelchairs, they still didn't want e to walk around by myself.

homesituation
I think that group homes should be abolished, in my opinion.
Accept for
people who need 24-hour care. I think nick should have the
right to
live his own life and be independent. I will pray for you. I
think
you are doing the right thing. His parents should have been
more
encouraging and supported his independence rather than treating
him
like crap because he's blind.
