Hi Poppa Bear,
You’re in luck. I lived in Springfield for 3 years while I was attending the Assemblies of God Theological Seminary. I had mostly positive experiences at the church I attended. I got plugged into a sunday school class and volunteered with the adopt-a-block ministry once a month. I tried volunteering with the food pantry but had less positive experiences convincing them I could actually help and that I wasn’t there to receive food. I visited several churches while I was there and had a variety of experiences. In a town like Springfield, you certainly have plenty of churches to choose from.

Let me know if I can answer any more specific questions about churches in the area or living in Springfield in general.

Blessings,
Greg
