Hello and greetings to you all on a Saturday, at least it's a Saturday
for you all as this message is being written. I hope that your day is
going well, by God's matchless grace and His providential care.
Before I start in on today's items for you, I'd like to express my
profound thanks for the two of you who listened to the show that God
directed me in yesterday on the Radio Reading Network of Maryland. I
have to hear from what locals have to say later, but from all
indications we will do it again with a repeat of yesterday's show,
mainly because there could be new listeners, but also that I won't lose
my place in the delivery.
Last evening at our local Christian singles fellowship I had a profound
encounter with a 6-month-old black girl named Kinley. When I arrived
at the couple's residence where our gathering took place, I sat beside
her temporarily while she was swinging away and having the time of her
life. I heard her speaking baby talk, and I followed suit. Scott, the
man of the couple, informed me that I had her attention in that she was
really looking at me. After several minutes she took my fingers in
both of her tiny hands and proceeded to look at my Braille watch, as it
probably was fascinating for her. This little lass has some major
health problems, one of which is that she was born with the inability
to swallow normally, so has to have a feeding tube inserted in her
little tummy. However, in spite of this and other problems, she is
remarkably calm and doesn't exhibit the normal crying spells typically
associated with children of her age. Scott and Amy, the couple, have
her and two other little girls in foster care. The other two are
normal children. It goes without saying that prayers on behalf of
Kinley would be very much appreciated. Thanks in advance for them.
And now here's what you've been waiting for, Saturday's two quotes for
your consideration, pondering and reflection.
The peace of God is not something you receive, but is something that
you achieve. The peace of God has to be guarded in you.
God's peace can grow in you and in your relationships.
And there you have it for today. Don't forget that, later in this
space will be another message from Tim Smith (no relation), director of
development for the Museum of the Bible in Washington DC. Until then I
am your obedient servant of the One who lived an earthly existence,
died to pay for your sins and mine, and now lives forever to bring us
His salvation and peace, Oil of Gladness.
