Well folks, for most of us it's the end of the workweek today, for
those of us who are gainfully employed, and at this time tomorrow the
weekend will have begun. I do hope that your day is going well, by
God's matchless grace and His providential care.
Here are today's two quotes for your consideration, pondering and reflection.
Things done by halves are never done right.
The opposite of a fact is falsehood, but the opposite of one profound
truth may very well be another profound truth. Niels Bohr, Danish
physicist, 1885-1962 (quote compiler's historical vignette on him: It
was he who was largely instrumental in getting Danish Christians in
shepherding their fellow citizens, Jews, across a narrow body of water
to Sweden during World War II. Understandably the German occupiers
were furious, but as I understand it the Danes were prepared and made
elaborate plans to save their own skin. One of the youngsters at that
time who was shepherded to Sweden, not a Jew but an "undesirable" in
the eyes of the occupying power because of his blindness, was Lars
Pilegard of Copenhagen, who went to be with His Lord in 2014).
And there you have the quotes, but stay tuned to the announcement.
Have you ever accessed a particular magazine, whether in Braille, large
print, regular print or audio and found an article interesting merely
by its title? And have you begun reading it and, as you continued
reading or listening to it, it became more and more interesting? Well,
the lead article I'll be presenting on my local radio reading service
this morning (eastern time) is just such an article. It's the cover
story in the September 2016 National Geographic magazine, and it deals
with blindness and of the research that is even now being done to
eliminate such a condition. If you are interested and your schedules
allow for it, from 9-10 AM eastern time, just point your browsers to
http://www.radioreadingnetwork.org
and click on where you find the word "listeners" without the quotes,
and you should be there. Folks, I spent half the night reading this
excellent piece, because I just couldn't put it down. The rest of the
program will be devoted to health articles on the mind-body connection
as reported in the Spring 2016 University of Berkeley Wellness Letter.
And that will do for now. Until tomorrow when, Lord willing when two
more quotes will be posted, I am your obedient servant of the One who
lived an earthly existence, died to pay for your sins and mine, and now
lives forever to bring us His salvation and peace, Oil of Gladness.
