[Faith-talk] Shikha: classes

LOL you remind me of a younger self! I only had a close circuit TV, tapes, and a sort of talking not very portable computer. You're very blessed! If I could do it all over again I would know braille and not tape record classes. Honestly, i rarely listen to the recordings and instead try to re-copy my notes or took notes from the book. Period now I can't even read my handwriting from then!

It just takes longer to do the job, but the results are still the same. I think a blind person can do much better, because we have to remember and work with the material more than a sighted person does. We can't just flip through a textbook and high light what we want to cram into our mind right before a test. We have to prepare more and plan more.

The same is the case in Judaism--Torah is read in Hebrew, and there was a debate over a long time about whether a braille Hebrew Torah was considered a faithful representation of sacred text because the shape of the letters was considered to have as much spiritual representation as the text itself.
