You guys are ruining my reputation as a girl of few words! Actually, that’s only when I’m with other people; when I’m in front of a computer “chatting,” I am done for!!! Inspiration strikes, words flow easily, ideas come...

Yay, “Team Optacon!” If I were moneyed, I’d pony up some funds to support that project, in less than a heartbeat! I bet today’s version, instead of having the vibrating pins, could have a stabilized image of the letters or whatever, like the modern Braille displays—it would be stable until you got to the next letter, obviating the tingling and the buzzing (which would definitely bother my quirky neurology, but probably not enough to make me refuse to use the old model)!

So, Linda, what I mean by “text-ese” is, the stuff that’s uber-shortened to make composing a message quicker, as opposed to fully-written-out—i.e., the language of texting. I am familiar with a little, but there’s a lot I don’t yet know (though willing to learn). Glad you brought up Syrie (sorry if I mis-spelled it, I have never actually paid attention to how it was written out and have never seen it in Braille), but dictating could definitely account for the things I struggle with in some messages. Also, glad to be made aware of the right-protected thing, too—it does explain why you wouldn’t be able to delete sub-messages. However, other than using page-down as I often do to get past stuff I’ve already read umteen times, is there some kind of “skip” shortcut key I could use to get to the next totally new part of a forum like ours?

Just for curiosity, Sarah—where did you get your m-div? Are you currently pastoring or otherwise using it? I ask only because I studied youth ministry for my BA, and after getting an MA in blind rehab, was part of a chaplain intern program at a local hospital, which I thoroughly enjoyed, having just audited it and not having to deal with the pressure of the grade and deadlines, etc. Although I’m not officially using the knowledge from those fields, I do find it so beneficial for things that come up in life.

Thanks for listening, everyone. Unless I absolutely can’t resist later, and have to respond to someone’s post, I’m on to the rest of my life for tonight!!!
