[Faith-talk] {Spam?} Re: autism, healing and whatever else...

Hi, Naima.

I sincerely dislike having my personal space invaded. However, I think it is
very important to control how we respond to having people invade our
personal space--this reaction is our responsibility, otherwise we commit the
same sin of invading someone else's territory. Jesus always called on people
to respond in the way they wanted to be treated. It isn't always easy. The
other day, someone was leaning over my face and staring in my eyes. It made
me feel very creepy and I tried to move out of the way, and she just moved
over and did it again. Finally, I just said, "You don't need to get in my
face. I can still see you." She did it again, so finally I just let her do
it because she was an older lady and wouldn't stop.

David that happen to me too.

Some of the ushers at my church tell me the same thing. When I went up to
receive the holy spirit, my pastor kept asking me could I speak in tongues
yet? I told him no. So he didn't force me, but the other people in my church
tried too. Why are some churches like this? Yeah, my sister-in-law's
church's pastor was like that too, he placed his hands on my face and I
almost kicked him! I don't like when people touch me without me knowing. I
might accidently kick or hit them. "Hard!!!" So then it will not be my
fault. I also believe in personal space and respecting that for someone
else. If I say don't touch me or please leave my personal space, then I mean
move! Does anyone feel like me? Am I wrong for feeling this way?

Hi all,
This is funny! I have been in a couple of churches, where I was pulled to
the front of the church after service, and hands were laid on my face, one
of the guys must have licked his fingers, because they were all wet, and
they prayed for me to receive my sight. They told me to open my eyes slowly,
because the light might blind me. When I opened my eyes, they asked in
excitement what I saw. I said that my sight was the same. They then asked me
if I had received the gift of speaking in tongues. I said no, and they told
me that was the problem. They said I could not receive my sight until I
spoke in tongues. They began to pray over me again, and they kept yelling to
let the tongues flow. Everybody was yelling behind me, and the people
praying over me asked me if I had sinned and not asked for forgiveness. They
finally insisted that my faith was week and that was why I could not receive
my sight or speak in tongues. They just told me to work on my faith. This
happened in two separate churches, both of them very charismatic. I know
now, about what the Bible really says about healing. I am so glad that I am
older and wiser LOL! I am in a great church, now, after being in so many
that I have lost count LOL! Don't give up, just like finding a mate LOL! The
Lord will put you where you belong. just be patient.
Take care, everyone!

Emanuel,
Your messages often make little sense. Please do us all a favor and actually
spell words correctly and use punctuation. Words jumbled together with no
punctuation is impossible to understand with a screen reader. A sighted
reader might get it by putting in periods or commas as they read since
brains make sense of words, but when you hear something, you hear it all
together. Your messages often sound like runons with no sense.
Your last phrase ends with no complete thought. It says the following "new
Christians say that they can healning self"
Note the misspelled word and fragment.
Please write clearly!

Ashley

Sandra,

Very well put. Also, we need to remember that, as long as we are here on
this earth, we will have illnesses and diseases. I was told that God wants
me to see, and, yes, that person wanted to pray for my healing. I told him
that God's will was for me to be blind; otherwise, I'd be able to see. He
gave me a singing voice to use for Him. That man's response was, "Yes, but
just think how much better your ministry would be if you were healed!" What
I thought, but didn't say, was, "No, what you're really saying is, just
think how much better your ministry would be if you healed me!" God has made
us the way we are, each with different gifts and talents, and each with
different challenges, whether through disease or something not "normal." Our
job as Christians is to rejoice in the Lord, and give Him thanks and the
glory for it. We'll all be whole in heaven. Until then, we must make the
best of it, and be an encouragement to others.

Blessings,

Linda
