[Faith-talk] Dilemma

Ashely,
I’m going to try my best to explain. First of all, you are not Catholic. Furthermore, of course you aren’t hurt by what was said. The point is people that are Catholic were very hurt and discouraged, and it is answers like yours that discourage Brandon and others from posting. Instead of being defensive, why not take to heart what others say and have empathy? You didn’t see a backlash, but others were hurt, and frankly that’s all that matters. If you don’t see why, then I would suggest reexamining yourself and put your own judgements aside and be understanding toward others that were hurt. There is no need to move on if people are still hurt. Healing takes time, and we can’t have members dismissing what others are saying. I don’t believe that is very Christ-like.

Yes, Brandon is correct. This list is like the elite Christian club, and non-Christians be d***ed if they don’t believe what we do. There are people that do evangelize, and people like my husband are discouraged from posting. Why on earth would he post if he doesn’t feel welcome? Why would he post if he doesn’t feel support? ISn’t that what this list is for?

Ashley, instead of saying what you did, why not say you are sorry he has been hurt? Wouldn’t that be more Christ-like? Sorry if I come across as mean, but words are very powerful and can really hurt. Please be careful how you phrase things because you could do damage. I’m speaking to myself even, because like you, I’m not always great at being empathetic. I’m not always great at tact either. So let’s all be careful.

God bless,
Christine

Sometimes listers on nabs-l will keep telling another member to learn braille if they ask a question as if this will solve all their issues, even when the lister explained they have problems learning braille or simply feel that as an older blind student that braille is not for them for studying due to the lack of efficiency with it.

They eventually left. I am hoping that I do not sound angry or accusing, I'm just trying to make a point, and it doesn't feel to me like I'm being heard. So thank you! Debby
