Well said Sarah. I also do not like changing words to fit political
correctness or other world views. I don't think that is an issue in the
Methodist church. Our last hymnal came out a while ago like over 20 years
ago I think.

I strongly dislike "Father, Mother God" and some of the other changes that
people want to make. I can understand some changes in certain contexts, but
I think these need to be done very carefully and with understanding.
Changing our representation of God to a mother represtntation because so man
people have had bad experiences with fathers is faulty logic. What will we
do then about the people who have had bad mother relationships? It leaves us
with nothing to call God. God needs to be bigger than our personal
experiences, big enough to heal them.

Hi Debby,
That's one of the reasons I like the music in my current church.
When I was a Lutheran, they changed the litergy words and tunes, and it was
hard to learn and be comfortable for the changes.
When I was a United Methodist, we said a prayer once to Father, mother God.
I was disgusted. Yep, it's a lot of brailling to keep up with the
unbiblical changes, and even with taking Thee, Thy, and Thou out of the hymn
texts. They're much less poetic by the time they get through with their
unnecessary editing! It's bothersome at best.
Blessings,
Linda
