O how funny! I have heard of that scenario, too, but technically, artificial eyes shouldn't limit Jesus.
My husband light-heartedly says that the Bible didn't do us blind folks any favors. Only Jesus did when he healed the ones mentioned, and he never was custodial or condescending.
He told one to go to the pool of siloam. Notice that he didn't ask someone to take him, knew the guy had enough sense to get there on his own, probably knew the city as well as anyone.
I can't take credit for the above thoughts, those are from one of my husband's messages on healing.

Yes, and they act like we're not whole people.
The thing I got to tell you all is that my blind friend has two artificial eyes—not common sense, that's for sure!
