Subject: Re: [Faith-Talk] The 2024 Election
Good Morning Everyone,
I happen to be a Republican also. However, it really does not matter. What matters is what we do in life. Honestly, I think that both parties have become extremist. I understand some of the arguments on both sides. Are we not supposed to be the peace makers? Let's take the issue of abortion:
If we feel that abortion is wrong, (I definitely do except in a few cases) why not create an environment, in which women get the services they need, so that they do not have to have an abortion? How about improving adoption laws? As for Trump, he obviously has a huge following because many people feel they are not being heard in this society. I, for instance, worked in Special Education with severely emotionally disturbed, learning disabled, and developmentally delayed students. Many of them could not learn to read and will need jobs in the service and manufacturing industries: Jobs which are repetitive. Many of those jobs are either disappearing or are taken over by undocumented immigrants? If we do not want Trump, how are we going to address the forgotten people? One thing I have done is to get Republicans to sign on to bills helping people with visual disabilities.
So, with that said, however we feel about elections, let us do what we can to make things better in our environment.
Best Regards,
M. Haas

Are these discussions really needed in the context of this list? Faith and religion will lead people to different political answers in our fractured society and political context. The current election is not about blindness in faith and religion. Personally, given the amount this comes up with clients in therapy sessions and with members of congregations that I preach in, I am trying to limit and control the amount of content I am exposed to otherwise about the election. The divided nature and rhetoric are not helpful, and these threads in this group are not beneficial in that regard.

Vance definitely is classier than Walz, and a supporter of Israel. I agree with you that Trump did fulfill his promises, and I never heard him say Hitler was his hero.
