do you have a laminated copy of the florida access law? it is a good idea to always have that with you. it is not right but it is true that some people are not interested in you, your blindness or your dog. contact your local TV,newspaper and radio. your most vigil efforts do not always eliminate the human nature on rights of possession. do you remember the florida sign that was every where "we reserve the right to refuse service to anyone"
some folks see their restaurant as their place, they decide the color, employees, style of food, hours of operation. the state says to operate no animals are allowed.kindly yet firmly educate them guide dogs are a necessary and legitimate tool. a firm yet polite letter simply inform them that your dog is not a pet and your access rights are state and federally protected. i usually provide a DVD about the use and history of guide dogs and the school.your guide dog school should have provided a form letter about guide dog rights and a introduction of you and your access animal. remember boycotts are a powerful and news worthy tool. well God bless.

I had an access problem at BJ's Last year.  Just for the record, I called
the desk Sergeant at the Sheriff's office to report the incident.  I knew we
were being recorded because I heard the beeps on the line.  After telling
the Sergeant the problem he said " no business has to let you in with a
dog".  I said that in fact according to Florida Statute I was legally
allowed to bring my dog in to a place of public accomodation.  Then he blew
me off and said I should call legal.  I should have followed it with a
letter to the Sheriff but I didn't.

I just thought it was interesting that the desk sergeant had no clue.
