[Flagdu] Uber driver accused of refusing to transport blind man's service dog, deputies say

I think all who attended this year's convention will agree that it was a
great success.
Thanks very much, Carlos, for posting this article. I wasn't even aware of
this incident with Robert Stigile, who is a longtime guide dog user. The
Uber drivers in Orlando have certainly been put on notice that those guide
dog users who attended the NFB convention  will not meekly allow their
rights to be trampled. Besides Robert Stigile's potentially life-threatening
incident, kguide dog handler Liz Campbell, president of NAGDU's Texas
affiliate, was also denied a ride by an Uber driver when attempting to
return to the hotel from a restaurant. That same night she filed a criminal
complaint. The deputy who came to the hotel to take the report at first
suggested she file an ADA complaint. Sadly, this is   the only recourse for
access denial of which the police are aware. Most are ignorant of our
criminal statute 413.08. but he was enlightened when Liz showed him our
Florida law by bringing it up using our NAGDU app on her cell phone...great
job, Liz!
We'll keep you posted on both these cases when we know more.
