Dear Federationists,
I'm writing to let you know of an opportunity to make our voices heard to
protect the rights of blind parents. As you have hopefully heard by now,
Representative Carl Gilliyard has introduced HB 891 in the Georgia
legislature which will protect the rights of blind parents in Georgia.
This Thursday, March 1, 2018, Representative Gilliyard is holding a press
conference at 9:00 AM in Room 610 of the Coverdale Office Building to
discuss HB-891. Members of the National Federation of the Blind of Georgia
will be speaking in favor of this legislation and we want to get as many
people present for the event as possible. So, if you want to protect the
rights of blind parents and are available to show up this Thursday morning,
please join us in Room 610 of the Coverdale Building at 9:00 AM or slightly
earlier.
If you are not able to attend, you can still participate. WE want everyone
to call their local elected officials and ask them to support this
legislation: HB-891.
Please contact me if you have any questions about the details for Thursday's
event. Please share widely.
Sincerely,
Greg Aikens, President

The National Federation of the Blind knows that blindness is not the
characteristic that defines you or your future. Every day we raise the
expectations of blind people, because low expectations create obstacles
between blind people and our dreams. You can live the life you want;
blindness is not what holds you back.
