<DIV><FONT size=2 face=Arial>Hello Heather,</FONT></DIV>
<DIV><FONT size=2 face=Arial>Thanks for being the first person to post to our
new list!</FONT></DIV>
<DIV><FONT size=2 face=Arial>Does Chase receive services from a physical
therapist? That would be my first suggestion. One thing that helped get my
daughter walking was Pip Squeaker shoes: <A
href="http://www.pipsqueakers.com/">http://www.pipsqueakers.com/</A>. She liked
the sound they made when she stomped her feet so that motivated her to want to
be upright and walking. Does he have any push toys that he can stand
behind? For example, my daughter liked to push a toy grocery cart.
</FONT></DIV>
<DIV><FONT size=2 face=Arial>Does Chase have a white cane yet? You can
order one for free from the NFB (<A
href="http://www.nfb.org">www.nfb.org</A>). And he is not too young to
have one! You want to order one that is approximately the length from the floor
to his nose. Let him hold it and swing it around. It will show him that
the world extends beyond his reach. He needs to have a reason to WANT to
walk. Try putting interesting sounding toys beyond his reach.</FONT></DIV>
<DIV><FONT size=2 face=Arial>Do a search of the name Joe Cutter and read his
articles and/or buy his books. He has a ton of good advice.</FONT></DIV>
<DIV><FONT size=2 face=Arial>Looking back, I think taking my daughter to classes
at Gymboree also helped motivate her to want to walk. </FONT></DIV>
<DIV><FONT size=2 face=Arial>Sorry my reply is choppy -- I was trying to get
things down as I thought of them!</FONT></DIV>
<DIV><FONT size=2 face=Arial>Good luck to you and please feel free to contact me
if I can be of help.</FONT></DIV>
