List Colleagues:

NFB of Maryland President Melissa Riccobono has asked that I serve this
year as resolutions chairperson during our state convention. I am
posting this notice to invite any interested member of the Maryland
affiliate to submit texts of proposed resolutions that our committee and
the convention might ultimately consider during this year's November
conference. Generally it would be wise to discuss the substance of your
proposed resolution with the affiliate president or other recognized
leaders in the state before proposing topics so that decisions can be
made as to whether a resolution would prove the most effective strategy
for addressing your concern or making your point, but members are
entitled to offer resolutions.

As chairperson of this committee, I would ask that you have any proposed
resolutions sent to me no later than Friday, November 6, 2009, so that I
have an opportunity to edit them for compliance with our standard
resolution format and can circulate them to members of our resolutions
committee. Please send your resolutions to me as an attachment to an
email at DFrye at nfb.org. Feel free to call me if you want to submit your
items in any other format. My full contact details are below in my
signature block. Attached to this message is a resolution writing guide
that Barbara Pierce, editor of the Braille Monitor, published some years
ago. It remains a useful tool in crafting and formatting resolutions.

Our committee will convene on Friday evening of the convention. This is
a public meeting, and members of the affiliate are urged to attend and
participate in or observe this deliberative process. Consult your
convention agenda when arriving at the hotel to determine when and where
we will gather. I look forward to seeing you in Ocean City, and I hope
that we generate a number of thoughtful resolutions that will advance
our cause within the state.

With Kind Regards,
