Hello everyone:
This is just a reminder that our informational protest against the payment of subminimum wages by Goodwill will take place tomorrow at the Goodwill Thrift Store located at 715 South Broadway in Fells Point from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. If you are taking transportation from the NfB Jernigan Institute, please be advised that the vans will leave the wells Street entrance at precisely 10:15 a.m. If you are not on a van and that time, we cannot and will not wait for you. I suggest that you plan to arrive at the NFB no later than 10 a.m. The vans will return to the NFB shortly after the protest concludes at 1 p.m. If you do not plan to return to the NFB, please make sure that your van driver knows this.
Please wear comfortable shoes (you will be on your feet for two hours) and at least business casual clothing. You may also want to wear sun screen and/or a hat. Keep in mind that you may be photographed or filmed by the media and will therefore want to present the best possible image of yourself and the federation. We will provide signs, flyers, and bottled water.
John Paré is in charge of the protest; please be sure to follow directions given by him and his helpers to the letter. This will allow the protest to run smoothly, safely, and without incident. Remember: This is a peaceful protest to provide information to the general public. We must conduct ourselves accordingly, even if we are confronted by those who disagree with us.
I thank each of you for your participation in this important protest to raise awareness of the unfair, discriminatory, and immoral practice of paying less than the federal minimum wage to American workers based solely on their disability. See you tomorrow!
Sincerely:
Chris Danielsen, President
