Subject: Blind Parents Meeting for March 

 

Hi everyone,

The Maryland Blind parents group would like to make you aware of our
upcoming meeting for March.  WE have changed our regular meeting time in
hopes to allow more individuals who are interested to join us.  Our next
meeting will take place on Saturday, March 10 at 10:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m.  at
the library for the Blind located at 415 Park Ave Baltimore, MD 21201.  

 

                Who is encouraged to attend:

*Blind parents

*Sighted Spouses/significant others  of a blind person 

*Blind youth and young adults who are not parents,  but who are interested
in learning techniques for caring for children as a blind person (e.g., for
babysitting or future knowledge) 

*Blind care givers such as grandparents or guardians who are caring for
children 

 

Purpose of the Blind Parent Group:

.                         provide a support network of blind parents for
blind parents 

.         Provide a support network and resource for sighted
spouses/significant others to help him/her support his/her blind companion 

.         share non-visual or alternative techniques and ideas for dealing
with the day-to-day responsibilities of parenthood

.         Brain storm strategies for coping with parenting challenges
relevant to blindness(i.e., transportation concerns, supervision of children
in public, socializing with other parents , managing your home, etc.) 

.         Discuss challenges and brainstorm solutions for dealing with
public attitudes about blindness

 

Please come to the main entrance of the library.  WE will be meeting in the
children's area located just off the lobby.  Child care will also be
provided at the library during the meeting.  If you have any questions,
