[Greater-baltimore] Local Chapter Meetings:

Hello all,

I appreciate the discussion on this list. As Chris notes below, I mentioned that a full discussion of this matter will take place at our April meeting. Discussion on this list prior to the meeting is not precluded, but of course not everyone has access to e-mail. I urge all of those with opinions on this matter, one way or the other, to make sure and attend the April meeting so that you can make your views known and, more importantly, vote your conviction, whatever it is. That is why I have done everything possible to give the membership advance notice of this vote. Thanks again to everyone who has advanced their views already through this list.

Crhis

Carol and All,

I agree with what has been said and would much prefer a Saturday meeting over a weekday one. As a resident of Carroll County, a move to a weekday evening would make it virtually impossible for me to make meetings. For those of us who live in what many would consider to be the western outposts of Carroll and Frederick counties, the Greater Baltimore chapter is the only one available aside from the at-large chapter. Moreover, the work schedules of many of our members would, in my opinion, make it much more difficult for us to attend meetings on weekdays. We therefore would likely see dwindling attendance rates and, eventually, a dwindling membership. There are certainly many chapters around the country which meet on weekdays and are quite successful. However, I have definite concerns about a chapter of our size and involvement making this move.

With this said, I am glad to see some preliminary discussion taking place on this matter on the list. However, I believe Chris Danielsen said this would be brought forward at the April meeting. So, while it is good to get a sense for the opinion of our members beforehand, it may be best for us to have the full discussion at the meeting where we will ultimately vote on the matter.
Just my thoughts as a rank-and-file member from the outpost of Taneytown.
<Smile.>

Hi this is Carol Siegel.

I certainly feel that the chapter meetings should be held on Saturday morning, but, an hour earlier since there is no longer any breakfast being served.

People are working during the week.
