Hello everyone:

This is another reminder about tomorrow's meeting, with specific logistics for getting to the meeting location. As I mentioned in previous correspondence, our meeting location has been changed for tomorrow because all of the meeting space on the fourth floor is occupied by the Baltimore Stem2U event. Consequently, we are using a spare conference room on the second floor of our original building.

If possible, you should plan to enter the NFb headquarters building from Johnson Street, on the building's east side, rather than from the usual Wells Street entrance. If a cab or Mobility vehicle is dropping you off, it might help to give the driver the address 1800 Johnson Street. The Johnson Street entrances are elevated above the street level, but at the north end of the building, near the corner of Johnson and Barney Streets, is a wheelchair ramp that can be used instead of the flight of steps leading from Johnson Street to the entrance. If you do use this ramp, you can enter the building through the first door on your right once you reach the top, so the ramp may be the easiest means of entry even if the steps do not give you trouble. Once you enter the door, you will be in a lobby area, and you will be able to walk down a short hallway, then turn right and walk down a slightly longer one, in order to get to the meeting location. If you use the steps and enter the Johnson Street door that used to be the main entrance to NFB headquarters, keep in mind that once you enter the building, a flight of stairs down to the first floor will be directly in front of you. Do *not* go down this stairwell, and do not turn left toward the elevator. Instead, turn to your right and you will shortly find a doorway straight ahead of you; this doorway leads into the lobby area I have just mentioned, and you can then turn left to proceed towards the meeting location. If all of this sounds confusing, we have a crew of volunteers that will be in the area to assist you. Near the meeting room we will be using, there are restrooms and a kitchen area; a coffee maker and our coffee supplies will be in this kitchen area. Consequently, there will be no need for you to go up to the fourth floor to get coffee, and you should avoid doing so, since you will inadvertently disturb the other activities taking place on the fourth floor that have necessitated the change in meeting location.

If you are on this email list but know of others who are not and you have the ability to contact them, please take a moment to do so and give them this information. Also consider posting it to your social media feeds if you have them. Finally, if you are extensively familiar with our building by virtue of being a longtime chapter member, please assist those who are less familiar tomorrow morning. We will have volunteers stationed at the Wells Street entrance in order to assist those who don't get this information as well, but things will go more smoothly if as many people as possible are brought up to date on this change in meeting location.

Thanks for your cooperation in this matter. I look forward to seeing all of you tomorrow morning!

Sincerely,

Chris Danielsen, Chapter President

The National Federation of the Blind knows that blindness is not the characteristic that defines you or your future. Every day we raise the expectations of blind people, because low expectations create obstacles between blind people and our dreams. You can live the life you want; blindness is not what holds you back.
