Subject: National Federation of the Blind Accessibility Boutiques in August and September

All,

Please distribute the announcement below as you see fit.

The NFB Center of Excellence in Nonvisual Access (CENA) to Education, Public Information, and Commerce, with support from the Maryland Department on Disability through a Non-Visual Access Initiative Grant, continues its series of Accessibility Boutiques (introductions to accessibility) free of charge and open to the public. Here are the boutiques scheduled for August and September:

Testing Accessibility with NVDA, August 11, 8:00-10:00 a.m.
A screen reader can be a great tool for learning how well a website or software works for blind users. Join us to learn more about how you can use it as a way to find bugs and barriers. This boutique will cover the basics of using NVDA, an open source screen reader which is freely available (donations requested). It will also touch on some of the reasons why NVDA is especially well-suited for testing purposes.

Accessible Websites Made Accessibly: An Introduction to Drupal, September 26, 3:00-5:00 p.m.
Whether you’re already using Drupal and want to learn more about its accessibility features, or looking for a content management system that is going to make it easier, rather than harder, to make websites that are friendly to blind and low-vision users, this two-hour introduction has you covered. In it we will discuss some of the available features and share behind-the-scenes insight into what makes an accessible Drupal site tick from day to day.

If you are interested in attending either or both of these boutiques, RSVP to cvangerven at nfb.org<mailto:cvangerven at nfb.org>; space is limited.

The event will be held at the National Federation of the Blind Jernigan Institute at:
200 East Wells Street
at Jernigan Place
Baltimore, MD 21230
