Subject: [Greater-Baltimore] February Chapter Meeting and Legislative Matters

Dear Federation Colleagues,

This month's chapter meeting will be on February 20 at 10:00 am in the fourth floor conference room.

You may have heard that the State of Maryland is switching to a paper ballot, except for people with disabilities. In the light of these developments, we will be demonstrating how to request an absentee ballot online at this month's chapter meeting and how to use the online marking tool at next month's meeting.

Winter and spring is also the busy legislative season. We will get an update from our state president about the Maryland legislative issues at the chapter meeting. We need to write letters and emails in support of both the equal employment and custody issues. To help with the letter writing campaign, we have scheduled two letter writing times, one being after the chapter meeting on Saturday and the other from 5:00 to 7:00 pm on Tuesday, February 23 at the National Center. Please consider staying to write your own letters, help write letters for others, and to have letters written for you. Aloma Bouma is coordinating our chapter legislative efforts. Please contact her at alomabouma at gmail.com<mailto:alomabouma at gmail.com> if you can help write letters at either or both times and if you would like to have a letter written on your behalf. It is critical that we receive everyone's help so our legislation can be passed in the Maryland General Assembly this year.

I hope to see many of you at the chapter meeting.

Cordially,

Ellen Ringlein, President
Greater Baltimore Chapter
National Federation of the Blind
