Hello all,

Good luck to all of the students who are participating in the Braille
Challenge today, January 28. Below is a message from the Maryland School
for the Blind, which tells you how to listen to some workshops and
ceremonies.

Carol Castellano, President of the Parents of Blind Children chapter in NJ
and author of several books including one on preparing your child for
transition, is presenting and we will be live streaming her presentation.
Her presentation is called "Getting Ready for College Begins in 3rd Grade".
If any interested parents want to watch it, the link is:
http://www.ustream.tv/channel/maryland-school-for-the-blind.

Her presentation will air from 10:40-12:40 and from 1:15-2:00 on Saturday.
We will also be streaming the keynote speaker, Christine Day. Chris is the
parent of 2 children who are braille users and her daughter, Meredith, won
first place in the Apprentice category in finals of the National Braille
Challenge competition held in California last June. Chris is going to talk
about ways she and her family have promoted braille literacy in the home.
Her talk will air from 9:45-10:30. Finally, we will also stream the awards
ceremony from 3:15 -4:00.

Sharon Maneki, President
National Federation of the Blind of Maryland

The National Federation of the Blind knows that blindness is not the
characteristic that defines you or your future. Every day we raise the
expectations of blind people, because low expectations create obstacles
between blind people and our dreams. You can live the life you want;
blindness is not what holds you back.
