Upcoming Free Accessibility Training Boutiques

The NFB Center of Excellence in Nonvisual Access (CENA) to Education, Public Information, and Commerce with support from the Maryland Department on Disability through a Non-Visual Access Initiative Grant, continues to offer Accessibility Boutiques (introductions to accessibility) free of charge and open to the
public.

The boutiques are held in person at the National Federation of the Blind Jernigan Institute. To sign up for any of these boutiques please RSVP to
Rpugh at nfb.org<mailto:Rpugh at nfb.org> . Here are the boutiques scheduled through July:

An Overview of Braille Display Support Across Mobile and Desktop

Tuesday, May 23, 3-5 p.m.

This boutique will evaluate the strengths and weaknesses of Braille support in the major operating systems based on a series of metrics. Operating systems
and screen readers covered will be the following:

list of 5 items
* Windows with JAWS and NVDA
* Mac OS with Voiceover
* Chromebook with ChromeVox
* Android with Talkback
* iOS with Voiceover
list end

Wearables

Thursday, June 8, 8-10 a.m.

The fitness bands and Apple watches of the world are familiar, but are they usable for a blind person? This boutique will go over what's available, what's
accessible, and what is venturing out further. We'll review some of the blindness-specific items and services such as the Buzzclip, OrCam, Aira, and the
Sunu band and discuss their use and usefulness.

Accessible Gaming

Saturday, June 17, 1:30-3:30 p.m.

Gaming accessibility isn't always obvious, but there are many people and companies who have done very innovative work to make their games accessible. This
boutique will demonstrate what is available for a blind consumer in the way of board games, PC games and phone games. Whether you like games for the ages
like chess, more modern additions like Exploding Kittens, casual phones games like Dice World, a good game of Streetfighter 5, cooperative gaming, or even
DD style role playing - we have you covered.

July

There will be no accessibility boutique held in July due to the National Convention and the Youth Slam.
