*The Johns Hopkins University and Medical Center are internationalleaders
in developing new treatments for many health conditions. The Wilmer Eye
Institute at Johns Hopkins has been at the forefront of novel treatments
for various diseases of the eye, but that research cannot go forward
without the help of dedicated volunteers: Patients with severe vision loss
agree to help us, so future patients can find better treatments. One area
that is very important for us is how we can measure very limited vision.
To do this, we are recruiting volunteers who have ultra low vision (ULV).
ULV means that the person is not totally blind, but does not have enough
vision to see letters on the eye chart, recognize faces or read large
print. Participants in our study will be asked to try out new Virtual
Reality glasses. In those glasses we show very simple scenes and we
measure how well our participants can see those. This will help us measure
different levels of vision within the Ultra Low Vision Range. We believe
that you may know people who may have this amount of vision and hope that
you are willing to help us reach out to them. We are interested in
speaking with you to offer further details, so you can decide if you can
help us identify potential participants for our study. Please contact Kemi
Adeyemo at 443-2870072 or oadeyem2 at jhmi.edu <oadeyem2 at jhmi.edu> to set up
a time when we can talk by phone or in person. On behalf of the ULV study
