Dear Chapter Colleagues,
Our next meeting is on Saturday, May 18 from 10:00 a.m. to noon at NFB headquarters (200 East Wells Street, Baltimore, MD 21230). Come and learn about what is happening at NFB at the national, state, and local levels. We have a packed agenda, so the meeting will likely run past noon.
If you participated in our clay workshop in April, your pieces are ready for pickup at the chapter meeting.
If you would like to participate in the community arts workshop on June 15 in the afternoon, we will need an RSVP from you. I will post details after my signature.
At the meeting we will also be discussing Dr. Jernigan's A Definition of Blindness. I will post a separate email with the text, if you would like to read it and think about it ahead of time.
Finally, we will have a tour of the tactile exhibits at the Jacobus tenBroek Library after the chapter meeting. The tour should take about thirty to forty-five minutes.
I hope to see many of you on Saturday.
Cordially,
Ellen Ringlein, President

Community Arts Workshop with Jenny Callahan
Gallery CA
440 E. Oliver Street
Baltimore, MD 21202
Saturday, June 15, 2019
2-4pm
Join artist Jenny Callahan for a workshop to create a tactile graffiti panel that will be included in the Ways of Seeing exhibition at Gallery CA. Tactile graffiti includes images made from brio, paper, glue, clay, origami paper, paint with texture, etc. All skill levels welcome. Participants will be creating collaborative artwork viewed primarily by touch. Other senses can and will be included through multiple media, visual, audio and design skills. The artist will lead participants through the creation of the piece by sharing her own experience of navigating through information that is often redundant, off scale, or difficult to sort through. This workshop will offer an opportunity for participants to create their own tactile communication as well as learn how the quality of design in tactile and braille materials greatly impacts the user's experience. Space limited RSVP required.
