Red alert: Baltimore doesn't have enough election judges. 






 




With less than ONE WEEK to go until Primary Day, Baltimore's elections are in trouble. The city still needs 200 more election judges in order to have enough staff to run all of the polling places around the city on election day.

FAQs



Who can be an election judge?
You must be: 

*	At least 16 years old or older
*	Registered to vote in Maryland
*	Able to speak, read and write English

Baltimore is also looking for bilingual election judges to serve portions of the city with many Spanish-speaking voters 

If you are a candidate on the ballot, currently hold an elected office, or are Chairman, campaign manager, or treasurer of a campaign, you cannot be an election judge.

Do election judges get paid?
Yes!

Most election judges are paid $200 per day. You can work multiple days if you also work during early voting.

Chief election judges make $275.

Pay increased from 2020.

Is there training?
Yes! In training, election judges get to practice many of the functions that they'll do at the polls, and have their questions answered by experienced election judges.

Training takes 3.5 hours, plus a short pre-assignment to do online at home. If you don't have access to a computer to do the pre-work, you can sign up for a "hybrid training" that's a little longer, but includes the pre-work.
