Dear federation Family:
Our chapter secretary, Sherria Young-Smith, has acquired information about obtaining paratransit rides in new Orleans. Here is the information:
In order to receive this service, you must confirm that you are eligible for paratransit service in Maryland. To do that you will need to fax your MTA paratransit information to 504-827-8428, or have the MTA do so on your behalf. I recommend calling ahead to confirm what is needed to 504-827-8345, and then calling that number again to confirm that your information has been received once you believe that it has been transmitted. You will receive a five-digit ID number to make reservations after your information is received and entered into the system. Transportation to and from the airport is $15 per person. All other rides are two dollars each. If you have a PCA, that individual can ride for free with you. To set up your rides you must call 504-827-7433. The website for the service is https://norta.com/ride-with-us/know-before-you-go/transit-accessibility/paratransit-service.
I hoep this is helpful.
Warmly,
Chris
