Dear Federation Family:

The meeting of the Greater Baltimore Chapter of the National Federation of
the Blind of Maryland will take place tomorrow, Saturday, August 19. As
usual, we will share the latest national and affiliate information, as well
as discussing our planned Blind Equality Achievement Month activities and
other chapter business. After the meeting, we will enjoy food, fellowship
and fun at our chapter picnic. A delicious menu including both fried and
baked chicken, baked beans, potato salad, macaroni salad, vegan options for
those who require them, and hopefully some member-prepared desserts is
planned. There will also be trivia and some prizes. If you wish to donate a
prize you are welcome to do so; please bring something of value that you
would want to win yourself, not junk you seek to discard. Please take
advantage of the vegan options only if it is a dietary requirement or
commitment of conscience for you; we will not have enough of those items for
all attendees. Thank you for your understanding. Beverages available will
include lemonade, water, and unsweetened iced tea. You are welcome to bring
your own beverages if those options will not suit your needs, and options
are also available for purchase from soda machines at the NFB Jernigan
Institute.

As of this writing, there are approximately thirteen remaining tickets
available in our group to see the Baltimore Orioles play the Colorado
Rockies on August 26, 2023. Individual tickets cost a total of $27.50
including online charges. Five dollars from each ticket purchased go
directly to the Greater Baltimore Chapter. The first twenty thousand fans to
arrive at the stadium will receive a Felix "The Mountain" Baatista
bobblehead, guaranteed to be the biggest Oriole bobblehead ever produced.
(Don't worry, though; it's not life-size, so you should be able to get it
home.) You can purchase your tickets at this link:

Our meeting will be held at the NFB Jernigan Institute, the headquarters of
the National Federation of the Blind located at 200 East Wells Street,
Baltimore MD 21230. The meeting will take place in the NFB of Utah
Auditorium, just beyond the doors leading into the main building from the
fourth-floor atrium, and will begin promptly at 10 a.m. The doors to the
Jernigan Institute on Wells Street will open at 9 a.m. Please do not attend
the meeting if you have a fever or are feeling ill. Also, please observe our
no-fragrance policy so that our meeting will be welcoming to chapter members
and guests who are sensitive or allergic to fragrances. The picnic should
begin to wrap up around 2:30 or 3 p.m. for those needing ot plan
transportation.

We realize that not everyone will be able to attend the meeting or will feel
comfortable doing so. For that reason, you can still participate in the
meeting on Zoom barring technical difficulties, which we will do everything
possible to avoid. The Zoom information is as follows:

To dial in, call 301-715-8592. Once the call connects and you are

prompted, you will then need to dial the meeting ID, which is: 891 2543
1163. You will then need to dial the passcode 632422, which spells out
NFBGBC. The direct link is:

You can also simply tap the following number on your smart phone or save it
to your contacts:

+13017158592,,89125431163#,,,,*632422#

During the meeting, you can use the following commands:

*	Pressing Alt plus A on your Windows computer, or star then 6 on your
touch-tone phone, will mute or unmute your audio. Please remain muted unless
and until you are recognized to speak. When the host unmutes you because you
have been recognized to speak, the Zoom app may ask you to confirm that you
want to unmute, and you will need to click the button in the popup to
complete unmuting.
*	Pressing alt+Y on your Windows computer or star and then 9 on your
touch-tone phone will raise your hand. This will let the meeting hosts know
that you seek the floor or have a question.

I look forward to sharing lively discussion of our ongoing chapter
activities with you, as well as news from our Federation family and more.
See you tomorrow!

Warmly,

Chris Danielsen, Chapter President
