Hello Federationists:

This is a reminder that the monthly meeting of the Greater Baltimore Chapter
of the National Federation of the Blind of Maryland will take place this
Saturday, June 21. As discussed at our last meeting, the meeting will be
held at the federation headquarters but in the fourth floor conference room
rather than in the Utah Auditorium. Greeters will be there to assist those
unfamiliar with getting to the conference room, but basically you walk
straight down the same hallway where the auditorium is located but walk past
it and into the staff lunchroom; you will know you are there because the
flooring will change from carpeting to tile. Walk all the way through the
lunchroom until you hit carpet again, then turn left and walk down that
hallway. You will pass an opening on your left for the freight elevator and
rest rooms. Keep going until you find another large opening on your right,
and turn in there, then go straight.

I am pleased to announce that at our August meeting, we will receive a visit
from Baltimore City Councilman Zac Blanchard. Councilman Blanchard
represents Baltimore City's Eleventh District, which is where the National
Federation of the Blind headquarters is located. He will make a presentation
but is also coming to hear our concerns, so one of our activities on
Saturday will be to brainstorm issues we want to raise with him.

Our meeting will be held at the NFB Jernigan Institute, the headquarters of
the National Federation of the Blind located at 200 East Wells Street,
Baltimore MD 21230. The meeting will take place in the original fourth floor
conference room, where the chapter met in days of old but which has now been
completely renovated, and will begin promptly at 10 a.m. The doors to the
Jernigan Institute on Wells Street will open at 9 a.m. Please do not attend
the meeting if you have a fever or are feeling ill. Also, please observe our
no-fragrance policy so that our meeting will be welcoming to chapter members
and guests who are sensitive or allergic to fragrances. Remember please that
such fragrance allergies or sensitivities can result in anything from minor
annoyance to a trip to the hospital, so please do not splash on any smelly
stuff. This is particularly important because in our new location we will be
in closer quarters.

A word about the new room: One of the advantages of using this facility is
that the room is equipped with many microphones that are accessible from the
seats. There is roughly one mic for every two seats. These mics are mounted
on the conference table. Each mic has a wooden base with a large rubber
button on it, which toggles the mic on and off. The system will only allow
three of these mics to be on at a time, plus the mic at the chairperson's
seat. That means you should keep your mic off when you're not using it.
Please remember that these mics are wired to the table and into the system.
The only way to move them is to adjust them the way you would a goose-neck
desk lamp, as they have the same type of swivel attachment. Do not, repeat
do not, try to move them in other ways, lift them off the table, etc. Also,
the chairs are comfy and adjustable, but please use caution if you decide to
adjust your seat. Let's be good stewards of this wonderful new space.

Please don't attend the meeting in person if you have a fever or are feeling
ill. The Zoom information is as follows:

To dial in, call 301-715-8592. Once the call connects and you are

prompted, you will then need to dial the meeting ID, which is: 624 813 8327.
You will then need to dial the passcode 63263, which spells out NFBMD. The

During the meeting, you can use the following commands:

*	Pressing Alt plus A on your Windows computer, Shift plus Command
plus A on your Apple Mac, or star then 6 on your touch-tone phone will mute
or unmute your audio. Please remain muted unless and until you are
recognized to speak. When the host unmutes you because you have been
recognized to speak, the Zoom app may ask you to confirm that you want to
unmute, and you will need to click the button in the popup to complete
unmuting.

See you Saturday!

Warmly,

Chris Danielsen, Chapter President
