Hello all,

Please take a few minutes today to call or email Senator Van Hollen
(202-224-4654, or email the Legislative Director Sarah Schenning at
sarah_schenning at vanhollen.senate.gov) as well as Senator Alsobrooks
(202-224-2524, or email the Legislative Director Elizabeth Mabry at
elizabeth_mabry at alsobrooks.senate.gov) concerning HR8884. The House has
already passed this bill, so we need Senate action. Please be sure to do it
today, because the Senate will be adjourning for a month shortly. Read
below for a suggested script.

Subject: Please support the passage of the Removing Barriers to Work for
Disabled Americans Act, H.R. 8884, via unanimous consent

My name is [YOUR NAME] and I want to urge [SENATOR NAME] to support the
passage of the Removing Barriers to Work for Disabled Americans Act, H.R.
8884, via unanimous consent. This bill will authorize the Social Security
Administration to conduct demonstration projects within the Social Security
Disability Insurance (SSDI) program.

An example of one of those demonstration projects is proposed in the Blind
Americans Return to Work Act, which, if implemented, would help numerous
blind Americans gradually phase out of receiving SSDI benefits. Please
support the Removing Barriers to Work for Disabled Americans Act.

The National Federation of the Blind of Maryland knows that blindness is
not the characteristic that defines you or your future. Everyday we raise
the expectations of blind people, because low expectations create obstacles
between blind people and our dreams. You can live the life you want;
blindness is not what holds you back.
