Details to share:
Summary of the challenge - SmartCityPHL, Philadelphia’s Office of Transportation, Infrastructure, and Sustainability (OTIS), and SEPTA are leading the SEPTA for All Challenge. We’re challenging teams of innovators to create augmented reality tools that will make transportation more accessible, comfortable, and welcoming for people with disabilities. Augmented reality applications add layers on top of what already exists to provide users with more information or enhance their experience. (A popular example is the game Pokemon Go). More than $35,000 in cash prizes will be provided to winning entries through generous support from U.S. Ignite, Facebook Reality Labs, and Comcast.
We’re encouraging people to get involved in three ways:
Learn more about the challenge and submit your idea at https://phila.gov/septa-for-all
If you identify as a person with a disability, take our survey to share more about your experiences with public transit
The project organizers are looking for judges to review applications and pick which ideas move forward in the competition. There are three stages of judging and they welcome participation in one or more depending on availability and interest. For more information, please contact Joanna Hecht at Joanna.hecht at phila.gov or 267-281-4155.
