> Summer is just around the corner, and we can’t wait to announce some great things we’ve been working on! But first things first. Supersense will be hosting a Clubhouse event this Friday, May 28, 4:00 PM Eastern. This will be an open event where you can ask all sorts of questions about Supersense and Super Lidar. Here is the link to the event. Come and join us! This will be fun!

> This month's guest is Clarke Reynolds from Portsmouth, England. He says that his story started as a form of escapism: "I started losing my sight at the age of 4. We were going to the hospital every week. I had patches and drops in my good eye so that it would help, but it never did, and I ended up with two blurry eyes. Art started as a solitary hobby and turned into a passion." But things changed in 2019 for Clarke. A local gallery gave him artist residency. He did a massive art project for Portsmouth festivities called Eye Sea Squares 2020. Clarke says, "The idea was to make a large tapestry inspired by the sound of the sea so that no matter your sight loss, you can experience art." In the end, over 1000 people took part, and the final piece was over 16 meters long and took 600 hours to sow." Clarke's dream is to exhibit his unique work worldwide and be known as a Braille artist. If you’d like to learn more about Clarke Reynold's art, you can check out his website Seeing without Seeing here and his Instagram account here!

> May is one of the special months in which we have things to celebrate, like Global Accessibility Awareness Week, GAAD. Some events continue till the late end of May, which you can check at the GAAD website. To celebrate this day, we collected all the posts we published this year about different aspects of accessibility. Click here to read 'em all.
>
> Karoline, one of our guest writers, wrote about an accessible kitchen appliance that changed her time spent in cooking entirely, and Clare McLaughlin narrated her story about starting the Seen-Unseen Art project over seven years ago.
>
> And now that the world is getting back to normal as we know it, Shane wrote about how to travel with Supersense. Tune in for more posts about Supersense features!

> This year has been a fantastic year for Supersense, filled with events and nominations. And recently, the AppleVis community nominated us for the AppleVis iOS App Hall of Fame. Voting is still open. If you’d like to support us, you can do it by clicking here.
>
> In May, all of our team were busy with community events. Shane was the guest of Mystic Access, where he demonstrated all features of Supersense, including our brand new Scene Describer. Ipek and Daghan participated in a radio show in Turkey, hosted by the hard-working community of Engelsiz Erisim Dernegi (The Association for Barrier-free Access for the Blind) and talked all about Supersense and Super Lidar (note: the audio is in Turkish).
>
> Lately, we’ve been updating our social media platforms and our website, so our YouTube channel got a bit of an overhaul as well. We started uploading tutorial videos, and even more are to come. So, don't forget to check out our channel from time to time for new content.
>
> Last but not least, we are happy to announce that Supersense and the National Federation of the Blind's Performing Arts Division are seeking blind performers for two live concerts to be held this July! You can sign up here for the auditions. The deadline for submission is May 31. So, better be quick!

> New and Exciting Supersense features
>
> New feature alert! Scene Describer is here. We’ve been testing it for some time and it is finally ready. And here’s other new and exciting features we’ve added to Supersense this month:
>
> A new Scene Describer mode is added to the Explore screen which allows you to capture a photo of your environment and provides the most probable description of the scene. You can also save the captured photo to your camera roll with the description and share it to other apps.
> With the addition of the new Scene Describer mode, the user interface of the Explore screen has been changed to be similar to the Read screen. You can switch between Object Explorer, Find and Scene Describer modes by tapping the select feature button at the bottom right corner of the scanning screen.
> Updated the user interface of the Barcode mode. Now, when you scan a barcode, the name of the product will be announced and displayed on the top of the screen and you will be able to continue scanning without being interrupted by the additional information about the product. If you would like to access more information about the product you can tap the show details button under the displayed product name.
> The new scene describer model is also added to the Import mode so you can hear the most probable description of an uploaded photo
