The National Federation of the Blind advances the lives of its members and
all blind people in the United States. We know that blindness is not the
characteristic that defines you or your future. Every day we raise the
expectations of blind people, because low expectations create obstacles
between blind people and our dreams. Our collective power, determination,
and diversity achieve the aspirations of all blind people.

Delicious Bites Social

Hello everyone,

I hope you all have enjoyed the start of this holiday season and are
staying warm during this winter weather preview.

I want to share some information about our 2026 season opener. We will
begin with what I like to call a "Bright Lights and Delicious Bites
Social," where we will enjoy a production and a meal together. I hope to
have a couple of these each season.

In April for our season opener, our production will be a play entitled
"Wilderness Generation," which will be playing at the Philadelphia Theater
Company located at the northwest corner of Broad and Lombard. Below is
information about the play and how you can purchase your tickets. If you
have an ACCESS card, you can purchase your tickets for $2 each for up to a
total of four tickets. Also, we will be having dinner afterwards at a
restaurant in the area, which will be announced at a later date. I'm
sharing this information early to encourage you to purchase your tickets
early. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me.

*Wilderness Generation -* Saturday, April 18 at 2pm, Philadelphia Theater
Company
A powerful, funny, and deeply human world premiere from Pulitzer Prize
winner James Ijames (Fat Ham), Wilderness Generation, directed by PTC
Artistic Director Taibi Magar, invites us into a family reunion layered
with memory, music, and the emotional weight of what we inherit and what we
choose to carry forward.

Over one summer weekend in the Tidewater South, five cousins gather at
their grandmother’s home—a place steeped in family lore and unspoken
truths. As laughter gives way to old wounds and long-buried secrets, what
begins as a celebration becomes a reckoning.

Through razor-sharp dialogue, Ijames explores the cycles of silence and
survival that define a generation raised in the shadows of trauma—and the
strength it takes to imagine something different. With echoes of Lorraine
Hansberry’s A Raisin in the Sun and Anton Chekhov’s The Cherry Orchard,
Wilderness Generation is a deeply resonant, Black Southern family drama
brimming with humor, heartbreak, and healing.
