Hello all,
I am saddened to share that GPC Board Director Quitrina Townes' family has
experienced the loss of two very special individuals this past week.
Janet Wroten passed away on Tuesday, May 26, and Pearline Jackson,
affectionately known as "Mom Pearl," passed away on Wednesday, May 27. Both
women were lifelong friends of over forty years to GPC member Virginia
Parker and were considered family by Virginia, Quitrina, and their loved
ones, who lovingly referred to them as Aunt Janet and Mom Pearl.
Many members of our chapter have had the opportunity to meet and get to
know one or both of these remarkable women over the years. Their presence,
friendship, and support meant a great deal to the Parker and Townes
families.
Please join me in keeping Virginia Parker, Quitrina Townes, their families,
and the families of Janet Wroten and Pearline Jackson in your thoughts and
prayers during this difficult time.
Sincerely,
Stacie

The National Federation of the Blind advances the lives of its members and
all blind people in the United States. We know that blindness is not the
characteristic that defines you or your future. Every day we raise the
expectations of blind people, because low expectations create obstacles
between blind people and our dreams. Our collective power, determination,
and diversity achieve the aspirations of all blind people.
