<p><span style="font-size:14pt"><span style="font-family:"Calibri",sans-serif"><b>Baltimore, Maryland (April 27, 2021):</b> The National Federation of the Blind, America’s civil rights organization of the blind, released the following statement on the <a href="https://nfb.org/civicrm/mailing/url?u=20893&qid=5194032" rel="nofollow" style="color:blue; text-decoration:underline">executive order issued today</a> by the Biden-Harris administration regarding wages for federal contract workers:</span></span></p>
<p><span style="font-size:14pt"><span style="font-family:"Calibri",sans-serif">“We commend the Biden-Harris administration for expressly including workers with disabilities in the new requirements for wages paid by federal contractors,†said Mark Riccobono, President of the National Federation of the Blind. “This is a significant step toward ending the antiquated and discriminatory practice of paying workers with disabilities less than the minimum wage, a practice based on outdated stereotypes and low expectations regarding the capacity of blind and disabled workers. We urge Congress to take ending this practice further by passing the <a href="https://nfb.org/civicrm/mailing/url?u=20894&qid=5194032" rel="nofollow" style="color:blue; text-decoration:underline">Transformation to Competitive Integrated Employment Act</a>, which will responsibly phase out subminimum wages for all American workers with disabilities.â€</span></span></p>
